# Market Ticker

> The latest matched price and trade size for a market.

A `prediction-ticker` message is the lightweight summary of a market — enough to
render a price without subscribing to the full
[order book](/websockets/orderbook-updates).

## Subscribe

```json theme={null}
{"type":"subscribe","data":{"targets":[{"target":"event-market","data":{"ticker":"ANTHROPIC-VALUATION-26Q3-2.1T"}}]}}
```

Public. No credential required.

## Fields

| Field | Type | Description |
| - | - | - |
| `type` | string | Always `"prediction-ticker"` |
| `eventMarketId` | string | UUID of the market |
| `lastPrice` | number? | Price of the most recent match, in cents |
| `yesBid` | number? | Best bid for YES shares, in cents, when supplied |
| `noBid` | number? | Best bid for NO shares, in cents, when supplied |
| `volume` | number? | Quantity of the trade that triggered this update, in shares; not rolling volume |
| `ts` | number | Unix timestamp in **nanoseconds** |

<Warning>
  Every field except `type`, `eventMarketId` and `ts` is optional. The current
  ticker publisher supplies `lastPrice` and `volume`, but does not supply `yesBid`
  or `noBid`. An omitted bid does not mean the book is empty. Use
  [order-book snapshots](/websockets/orderbook-updates) for current quotes.
</Warning>

## Example

```json theme={null}
{
  "type": "market-update",
  "data": {
    "type": "prediction-ticker",
    "eventMarketId": "9f1c2d3e-4a5b-6c7d-8e9f-0a1b2c3d4e5f",
    "lastPrice": 62,
    "volume": 40,
    "ts": 1789238400123456789
  }
}
```

## Reading the spread

Read the best YES and NO bids from the
[order book](/websockets/orderbook-updates#both-sides-are-bids). The YES ask is
`100 − best NO bid`. The optional ticker fields use the same bid convention when
supplied.

For example, with a best YES bid of 61¢ and a best NO bid of 37¢:

| Quantity | Value |
| - | - |
| YES bid | 61¢ |
| YES ask | `100 − 37` = 63¢ |
| Spread | 2¢ |
| Mid | 62¢ |

## Notes

* `lastPrice` is the last match, which may be stale in a quiet market. It is not
  a current quote — use order-book snapshots for that.
* Prices are integer cents, 1–99, and read as implied probability: 62¢ means the
  market puts the outcome at roughly 62%.
* Ticker messages are published for trades. To also see the individual matches
  that moved the price, subscribe to [Public Trades](/websockets/public-trades)
  on the same target — one `subscribe` gets you both.
